When excluding not stated, people with an ability to speak Irish made up 39.8% of the population in 2016#The majority of respondents from both the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo indicated that they were born in Congo. With this information alone it was impossible to distinguish which of the two countries the person was in fact from.
