Notes

Total beet includes sugar beet and fodder beet. From 2007 onwards, areas under sugar beet and fodder beet will no longer be reported separately. This is due to the reform of the EU sugar regime in February 2006, which resulted in the ending of sugar production in Ireland. Other crops includes fallow land. The regional composition is based on the NUTS (Nomenclature of Territorial Units) classification used by Eurostat. The NUTS3 regions correspond to the eight Regional Authorities established under the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993, which came into operation on 1 January 1994.
