From Quarter 1 2012 onwards, there is a break in the series relating to Domestic and Outbound Travel due to changes in the weighting methodology. This Household Travel Survey (HTS) Quarter 2 2021 release includes the first release of estimated domestic travel results for Q2 2020. The CSO advises that the estimated data for this quarter should be treated with caution and is best used as part of the annual domestic travel results for 2020. In addition, outbound data has also been estimated for Q2-Q4 2020. This data was estimated to satisfy EU regulatory requirements but should be treated as experimental, and only state level aggregates are presented in this release. The HTS was suspended due to the COVID 19 pandemic in March 2020 and as a consequence survey data does not exist for the period March through June 2020.
