Notice of Revisions and Seasonal Adjustment Review - 15 March 2023 - The CSO had previously committed to review its approach to the seasonal adjustment methodology used in this monthly Industrial Production and Turnover series. This review is still ongoing, and in the meantime, the CSO will continue to implement the direct method of seasonal adjustment. In addition, the coherence of the series when compared to the CSO’s National Accounts estimates has continued to be examined. As part of this ongoing comparison, an issue was identified in the absolute values of the unadjusted production indices for September 2021 and as a result, the value for each of the subsequent months has now been revised. There is no impact on the short-term monthly trends for 2022 and it can also be noted that there was no impact on the unadjusted turnover series. The series and method of seasonal adjustment will continue to be the subject of further review.
