A6 RESERVE BANK OF AUSTRALIA – BANKNOTES ON ISSUE BY DENOMINATION

'Data from 1984' covers the value of all banknotes in circulation, by denomination. Data cease when a banknote is replaced by a coin. Coins are excluded. Prior to June 2008 data are to the last Wednesday in each month. All data post June 2008 is end of month.

'Data prior to 1984' covers the value of all banknotes in circulation, by denomination, excluding £20, £50, £100 and £1000 banknotes (these denomination banknotes had ceased to be issued in the early 1900s and constituted less than 0.5 per cent of outstanding banknotes in circulation, by value, by 1945). Coins are excluded. Australia converted from pounds to dollars on 14 February 1966, with 1 pound becoming 2 dollars.
